a poem: animals and moons
..and a new illustration, and a sweet/mind-blowing fact about hummingbirds
the moon is full and so am i
windows open
crickets in the bush
just outside the kitchen
sometimes on the screen
chirping
metallic
summer is a love song
keeping me awake
i don’t mind
i want to hear life
not the artificial hums
from our sterile little boxes
blaring crickets to my left
a hummingbird’s soft beeps
and trills too soon
in the morning to my right
some nights the moon is full
and sleep is scarce
and i’m an animal
here on earth
amongst them
*a sweet fact
Studies show that hummingbirds can remember migration routes and every flower they’ve ever visited. They also can recognize humans. source
